Maybe I'm just dim, but what's Italian ice? And considering global warming too, Italy - a warm country - being frozen over doesn't make sense either.

Wow, I guess a lot of people don't know what italian ice is. It is sort of like a snow cone except smoother.

Gelati has italian ice in it.

I have also heard it called water ice and frozen ice. Rita's sells something similar to italian ice. Nice design!

weird, I thought the term Italian Ice was more wide spread, at least within the states. I love the lemon kind. I don't love when they forget to give me my little wooden spoon

It's not gelato. Gelato is like expensive Italian ice cream/sherbet. Rita's is a good example but usually it comes frm an ice cream truck. (But it's not an ice cream truck, it's the Italian Ice truck) Where are you people from? (Answer != New Jersey)

P.S. I didn't mean that in a negative way, I'm really curious to know which places don't have Italian Ices.

I'm from Delaware, and I've only seen water ice. Or snow cones. But the design is great! Nice job.

I can't believe people have never heard of Italian ice!

Very clever design, and I ADORE the way the font on the back is shaped like what it says. I think the back design might even be cool enough to be a shirt on its own, for stupid people who see Italy encased in ice and immediately think global warming (?!) rather than tasty dessert!

wow, im glad im not the only one that knows what italian ice is. I guess its something only in the states

NJ explanation: Rita's goes by both Water Ice and Italian Ice, depending on whether it's in North or South NJ. Technically speaking, Italian Ice is not as slushy or smooth as Water Ice; gelato is a thick, rich custard commenly put in Water Ice (ie, Rita's.) Just an FYI.

Cute!

I've never had Italian ice, and so it makes sense that I didn't get it.

But I don't love the concept that much anyway.... but it's not bad.

i'll tell you what, just living in central PA, i know that some other folks in the area have no idea what Italian Ice is!! i have freinds from Philly, and they call it water ice. so don't feel bad that not everyone gets it. i love it though, and i'm italian :)

Around here they sell "italian ices" at the espresso stands which are not the wikipedia sanctioned type. It's a drink: Ice(cubes)+syrup+seltzer served usually with heavy cream and/or whipped cream.

They're good...but if you're expecting a snow cone/gelato hybrid you'll be disapointed.

Oh yeah...the shirt. It's okay...doesn't really look like ice to me though.
lsmc88
lsmc88 on Mar 20 '07
yeah, they sell that here too, but they call it an italian soda. Those are really good too

I've always known of the term italian ice, but maybe it would be clearer with a spoon liying below the icy italy on the front as well to clear things up? Or would that just convolute a good idea and make it more confusing? Either way, a nice tasty treat of a sub you've got here...ouch..brain freeze!
