Nah, I wouldn't say take off the tomato. Then it would be just some plant and a tomato.

If you change it at all, maybe make it smaller and/or still green?

Though I really like it the way it is just fine.

I think the problem with this design is that crop production (other than say, a basement filled with marijuana) is already "solar powered". You're not making any kind of statement about the need for people to change their lifestyle habits. Instead they get to say "I'm already solar powered to some extent" and leave their porch light on all night. If you grow your food yourself or from locals, you can limit the greenhouse emissions caused by the trucks etc that bring your food to you. Perhaps instead you could show a clothesline as this presents people with a true opportunity to cut their electricity use by using an alternative energy source.

i'm having difficult with how much it resembles those, like, "how to dump your girlfriend" or "how to be emo" shirts that you buy at hot topic... the three boxes, the writing underneath them. it could be a throwback, but a throwback to unoriginal shirts no one likes.



great idea for a "green" shirt though. i dig the concept.

squatterjohn: to start, the photo imagery used for this was taken of the tomato plant growing on my front porch :-) Part of the intent of the piece is to encourage eating foods that are more "solar powered" than others. Note the intense lack of a cow on the shirt ;-)



pokemon: I have never seen those shirts, so I can't claim to be inspired by them.



The three paneled "triptych" form is very common in art, not just t-shirt design. The center panel of a triptych is usually the most significant, whereas in this piece it establishes the subject.

I like it.
