I admit it's a great design but anyone who does not share your beliefs will most likely give it a very low score, and they certainly would not buy it. A good design should appeal to everyone.

And by the way, I'm Jewish also.

its a cool design, but im afraid the text and cross will take away from the design for most people here....

It's hard to be taken seriously when the core of your beliefs can be illustrated on a t-shirt.

I love the comment about my beliefs on a t-shirt (awesome), oddly enough most shirts people wear demonstrate some sort of thought or emotion - even a smile. For those of you that want to bash this because of a cross, open up your eyes, crosses are used everywhere - be afraid be very afraid:)

Hey, why do you guys think you have to hold the same belief to appreciate the design??? Don't $ it if you aren't going to buy, but rate it for the quality of the design and its ability to portray meaning!

5 from a magickian.

I think it's a pretty cool design, regardless of the belief it conveys.

Why do people only comment when they are offended? (ok, its more like most people only comment when there offended... but still) Intricate art, but not my kinda shirt.
MCS4096
MCS4096 on Jan 11 '08
I dont think they're offended, just commenting that a undeniably religion based shirt isn't something they'd be interested in wearing. And in my opinion the design is only good without the cross/text. Which is kinda central, so no high score from me.

ha.....i'm licking my lips...if there are who don like this design jus cse it uses a cross , take a look at..(http://www.threadless.com/submission/147041/More_hands_more_chocolate)..

i became pretty incensed by that personally mostly cse people were so ignorant bout a symbol that holds a lot of meaning in this part of the world i am...Design is a lot more than an artwork...it's dynamics go into peoples thoughts and subsequently emotions.

all the ranting done....really good artwork and design..i'd wear this.

Hey, why do you guys think you have to hold the same belief to appreciate the design???

you dont have to hold the same beliefs to appreciate a design, but on a website where the general community votes on what they want to PAY FOR and WEAR, those who don't hold the same beliefs are likely to score low.

whether the design is good or not, people need to take that into consideration when subbing on a site like this
SoulfumeInc

if this had a big non-religious symbol in the middle of it (like a skull or whatnot) i'd 5 it for sure

Don't listen to the tards! If that's you're belief and the belief of the MAJORITY of the world, then dig it bro! Great work. I love the extras and I’d put the cross in gold (that shiny ink). $5
zair99
zair99 on Jan 12 '08
I wouldn't wear this because it doesn't match my beliefs, but that doesn't mean that it's not an awesome design! Besides, isn't art at least a bit about expressing yourself? A good design doesn't have to be for absolutely everyone!
FVG
FVG on Jan 12 '08
@socoduce: it's not the belief of the majority of the world.

I agree it's a well executed design, but as roxypalace said it's not very original: there's many shirts with the same style.

So yes well-crafted, but unoriginal and way too much of a religious statement. 2 points for effort

alicaurusrex
alicaurusrex on Jan 12 '08
Also... "the belief of the MAJORITY of the world"... erm what the hell? Christianity might be the biggest religion, but only about 30% of the population follow it. The other 70% are all the other religions, so hardly the majority!

love the design swirls, not into the idea within the middle there. Try to make something that everyone could wear on this site, instead of narrowing your audience to Christians.

I have no problem with the cross in the design (despite my being a neo-Pagan, quasi-Christian, demi-Hindu Judaic Sufist with a strong belief in Zen, the Tao, and evolution), my issue with it is the line "The Core Of Truth." I wouldn't wear any religious symbology with such a line, despite the fact that I wear a lot of religious symbology.

Artwork's good, though the style is not dissimilar from a lot of stuff you see already in American Eagle or Garbage or Lucky Jeans.

Just, you know, it's the American Eagle, Garbage, or Lucky Jeans shop where Jesus hasn't yet driven out the money changers.

It's designed well and I'll score accordingly, but it has very little appeal to the community as a whole, including my atheist self. If you could develop this into a tolerance design where the core beliefs transcend religion, that would make this a design worth wearing.

(I am, in no way, trying to insult any religion or religious person with that last remark. I just get frustrated when I tell people I'm an atheist and they assume I have no morals. Good people are found with every religion, or lack thereof.)

Cool design, it actually took me a second to realize that it had a Christian message (at first I thought it was just some sorta heavy-metalish-looking thing).

The idea that a design should have to appeal to everyone on a site like this is clearly bonkers. That's why Threadless is better than corporatoid sites with ten selections.

Chances are, everyone will be offended by something on this site. If that weren't the case, the site would be utterly boring. I'm offended by teddy bears with bloody axes; I just give them a 1 and move on.

ROTFL Drums!

Great work Maddog. I think if it's something that appeals to you, then that's what you should design. Don't create just to make other people write "I'd buy it," create based on your beliefs, and what YOU want to do.

I LOVE the irony of JKLarson's comment. Something about it's hard to take it seriously when the core of your beliefs are on a shirt? How many people DO put the core of their beliefs on shirts? It's so common. Isn't that why so many people are into wearing t-shirts with designs? To reflect something about themselves? That was such an idiotic statement! Honestly, JK, you might want to put that up on the slogan submissions for voting. I think it would make a clever slogan shirt.

Personally, I wouldn't wear a cross either. I am Christian, but not into wearing something that was used to kill another person. Never understood that about the religion, but to each his own.

Socoduce, uhm, where are you getting your facts about religion? The majority of the world IS not Christian. Go look it up buddy.

Good luck

I like the design. I'm still sort of riding the fence as far as the text goes, but it's a great overall design.

Why try to cater to everyone with one design? It encourages sameness and cuts the wrists of individuality. If someone doesn't like it the design or what it means, they don't have to buy it.
poohbearmama
poohbearmama on Jan 16 '08
Who said a good design has to appeal to everyone? If it's not to your taste or beliefs, don't wreck it for the rest of us. If it's a nice piece of art, it deserves a high score.
