wow...this is beautiful...yeah..I agree with you. Softer colours would add more of an impact. keep the strong red and black but change the shirt colour? light yellow? soft baby blue?

Got to agree with irobot- why is it printed on a red tee? It really dissipates the impact of the design- you have you squint and stare to figure out what's going on against the red.

man. i clicked "id buy this" and i had every intention of doing so right away but making it red was easily the worst color choice possible. part of its appeal is in the shocking yet gorgeous and elegant nature of it. if you guys reprint it after its 1st run in a diff color ill get it (tan or silver or baby blue would be nice) but until then...damn. doesnt do justice to such a great design.

This shirt seems totally emo to me, but it was the shirt that got me linked up with Threadless. I bought several shirts while waiting for this one to be reprinted (it was so popular, I knew it would be eventually). Fortunately it only took two weeks before the magic reprinting notice! I'm wearing it now. One of those designs that just sticks in your mind forever. I love it so much.

I ordered this shirt in dark gray, but I have to say when I requested a reprint I was really hoping they'd reprint the khaki. I like it a lot more with the shirt being lighter than the design. It's still wonderful and I'll like it, but.....just not as much. Not your fault.

as much as everyone says its been ripped off and its all over i cant find it. this thread has been goign on for 4+ years and it goes from "this is an awesome shirt!" to "please reprint!" it is obviously a greatly wanted shirt, i know i would buy a few. not sure if it will ever be reprinted again (its in the not forgotten section) but i have put every vote i can into reprinting. i love the design and would feel great getting it from the site that made it big, i would feel better if JByron's site sold my size (props for keeping it up). still thinking on the print you got up.

Hrrmmm.... I think I prefer the "30 sec to Mars" version. It's a little more refined. I preferred the way that the theme was carried through the male figure, whereas here, the girl is a little too crude for my liking.

hey jason, im reading so many people back talking this design or trying to find someway to point out why its wrong. I dont feel like its necessary to compare this to what someone else did or all of a sudden declare it a total rip-off. so what its popular and its been reprinted but that only shows that people truly like it and theres nothing you can do to change that. people coming on here just to say they dont like it is kind of pointless. its like they cant appreciate what an artist puts into the community just because they didnt have the chance to do something as great. i know you probably know this but i thought it should be said. keep doing what your meant to! nice work

I've searched, and can only find references to this design, and people calling it a Banksy with no citation. I've even found a few arguments over whether Banksy or JByron did it first. I can't even find anything suggesting a Banksy (or any other) version existed before December 2003 (most of these arguments seem to have arisen between 2006 and 2008), nor can I find any image that can actually be attributed to Banksy except for one - there's a print being sold along with other Banksy-ish designs. The image is changed a bit, as are the others including real Banksy designs, so I'm inclined to say that is not a legitimate source either and that the items they're selling are not licensed (they also have prints using other artists' names, but with tweaks to the original pieces; I will not link it here but it's pretty easy to find).
What I have seen the most, by far, is the shirt image at the top of this page more than once, with credit attributed to Banksy. Even if it was a Banksy original, why not use an image of it? Because it doesn't seem to exist. As far as I can tell, people who say this is a Banksy are either confused or think it looks like it should be a Banksy. Neither JByron nor Banksy originated this drawing style, or even this stark aesthetic. I have a collection of posters dating back to the early 1960s that depict simple, darkened single-color figures with bright colorful accessories. One, I believe entitled "Growth", features a dark green girl letting go of a bright orange balloon. Ten years before Banksy was even born. |

This does look like Banksy's style, but it's not one of his designs. I wrote and asked him through his website. And he actually replied...
