Yeah, I hope this isn't too cerebral. I just wanted to do something that made people kind of do a double take, or maybe after they read it while they were walking away, it kind hits them all of the sudden.

I would buy it--if Revolution was all on one line. It looks very amateur to have it split. Love it though!

I hate this. I think you need more Lennon in your design and less Lenin.

People always either really like the stuff I do or hate it. I am not real good at hitting somewhere in the middle. If I had used Lennon, there would be a copyright issue and a cease and desist from Yoko if it were ever printed. She is like the Gestapo when John Lennon's image is used without permission.

Oh yeah, and it would completely remove all the irony and thought from the concept.

I think the text says it, I don't know if you need to say it again in the visual. I'd rather rock john on my chest than joseph. But true with yoko.. I guess, though she might like the shirt, eh? Did you go to art school.. where'd you attend?

stalin wasnt a really good dude.....jus thought you should know that

Yeah, I know Stalin was an evil dictator, the idea is to contradict that by thinking of the peace loving hippy musical pioneer, John Lennon.

I went to school in the Midwest. I got the 4 year degree in whatever they called it then, Communication and Visual Design. Something like that. It's probably just Graphic Design now or Multimedia. I can see how you would be opposed to wearing Stalin, but if people actually read it then hopefully they would get the pun.

Dude, I like it. Very cool and very threadless. A 5 from me my friend. (weould have been bad taste and too obvious if I'd called you comrade! HA!)

And thanks for taking the time to give me the positive c & c on my design. I appreciate it alot, and hear what you had to say.

umm, good message with the whole world peace thing, but obviously you know nothing about lennin, cause he was a damn good leader, so it really doesnt makes sense, that'd be like sayiong, go peace, and boo peace

Lenin killed more people than Hitler. I don't think that qualifies as a good leader. Marx had interesting ideas and philosophies but Lenin was bad news. I don't think you could ever get him mixed up with the idea of peace.

I can pull the speckle/worn effect if Threadless wants to. The source file is all vector. I just thought it would cause the screens to pool a little and give the graphic a kind of 'worn' look if it was ever printed.

I love this one. The other shirt you submitted not so much, just because it seems so cliche. I know, I know, everything's cliche nowadays. But anyway, good luck. I love your designs.

Thanks. Yeah the other one is a little cheese. Guess that can be good or bad, depending on how it's done.

ctt, for the record lennin didn't kill anybody, you're thinking stalin, big differance. Also lennin didn't start a revolution, he brought the end to one, he was a true marxish as opposed to stalin who was a fascist who called himself a communist. everybody loved Lennin; the only bad thing Lennin ever did to his people, was for him to die. but as a testoment to how much the russian people loved him they had him mummified in glass casket, and even today people line up for hours just to walk by and see the great leader. and so lennin good , stalin bad, shirt make no sense.
ctt
   ctt on Jan 25 '05
You are right. I still think that Lennon's ideas are pretty contradictory to what Lenin was about. It was my major mistake on misplacing Stalin and Lenin. I still think the shirt spurs a lot of thought though and there is a definite difference between what the two stand for in a historical sense.

And by the way. Where are your shirts?

One more thing while I am thinking about it. They were both extremely revolutionary figures when you put their ideas into a modern context. I think the 'Start a revolution' makes perfect sense when you consider both Vladimir Lenin and John Lennon.

I mean when the Bolsheviks took over Russia with Lenin as their leader, that was a revolution. I know that when he instated 'War Communism' it failed pretty miserably and the peasants starved even worse than before. However, when he shifted policies towards what he called his 'New economic policy' it was a success. As the 'Father of the Soviet Union' though he is still an extremely sybmolic figure that can be interpreted in different ways depending on how you think.

I still think Lenin's ideas contradicts in the extreme sense with the kind of non systematic peace loving ideas of John Lennon.
