A queen of spade can be a sweatheart too...

um, why is the big spade being cut out?
nootrope
nootrope on Oct 27 '05
It's cut out because it's the exact design on my playing cards at home (the most usual in France)...

And what's the "D"? I think this is interesting but it needs work.

I agree about the "D"

and she should be holding a spade. Since she is the queen of spades.

The girl is done nice and I could see this design with just her holding a spade or a spade behind her

I like the concept.

But I would 'uncut' the spade on the top left, or leave only its little leg, as if she had taken the 'heart' from the spade.

Yeah the spade should be whole since the most commonly used deck sports a complete spade.

D stands for Dame. It's what the queen is called in french. I say leave the D. I prefer the reference to Dame over a Queen.

I'm not sure about the spade...for some reason I think it would look off if the complete spade was there moving it too much to the center, but at the same time it looks odd cut off too.

I'm giving it a $5 though...I like the concept and the artwork too much to give it anything else.

Thanks for all your comments.

I definitly have to change the cut spade and look forward a standard US deck design.

The queen is holding a heart because she's fed up with being the "bad" queen of spade, so she has cut off the spade part to become a "nice" queen of heart... here what was my (too) complicated idea when I did it...

yeah I don't like the queen of spades... very bad in hearts.

I like this. I don't know how you'd do it... but it would be cool if she's holding the black heart and the spade stem is left up there... like she plucked it off the card.

Love the concept and the artwork. The D had to be explained... but it works.

leave the D its way cooler than a Q and better refferences, wearing something which requires a little attention is always best ("um yeh its french wanna go to bed with me....") if she was supposed to pluck the heart bit out of the spade, take the "shiny" bits off the heart, it would look less cartoon. not sure which way i go on the cut/uncut spade. but there is an uncut spade on the right, so maybe leave it. nice work

I like the design, although I think the Heart shou'ld be less shiney, and that the face should be less detailed

Other wise 5$

Don't americanize yourself!!

I love this shirt and think the design is very well done! Size and over all image is great. the only thing i would change is that the facial expression seems a little off - but I would stil buy it as is

The playing cards symbol usually with a ‘Q’ above or inside. It connotes white women with a sexual preference for black men. It can be seen on tee shirts or even as a tatoo. Also a way for a white woman to let potential black lovers know she is available.
