About my design

by Ste7en
Sorry about the blurry quality, heres a larger view:

http://threadless.com/profile/178017/Ste7en/34432/[sub]_Blik_Loves_Threadless_(large_view)

-My first completely vector submission in a long time. Thanks for the help in the blogs.

-Theres a couple artistic references in this piece for viewers to find, one threadless and one ultra famous (2 references to that one).

You should make a shirt out of just the 3 men in a tub, that one needs its own shirt!
helo
helo on May 04 '06
Let's see how many poetically incorrect

(kinda like politically incorrect )

images I can find in your design :

It was Jack and Jill who went up the hill

to fetch a pail of water. Here we see the dish

that ran away with the spoon attempting

to get that water.

Little Boy Blue somehow has taken possession

of little Bo-Peep's staff and her act of when she

"fell fast asleep, and dreamt she heard them

[her sheep] bleating." Yes, little Boy Blue fell

asleep too, but he only had a horn. The staff and

dreaming of sheep belong to little Bo-Peep.

The three little pigs look like they're about to

steal the materials they plan to use in making

their houses.

We see the butcher of three men in a tub

getting scared by a spider instead of little

Miss Muffet. The butcher resembles JOHN2's

butcher/mermaid Threadless design.

Humpty Dumpty is in the God position and

little Boy Blue is in the Adam position based

on the painting, "Creation of Adam" by

Michelangelo.

Anybody see some other things?
may_contain_traces_of_peanut
I enjoy the idea, and it has been executed in a fun and interesting way, well done. I feel it would come across as a stronger design without the words. This would leave more to the viewers imaginination. The style of illustration creates a sensibility of nusery rhyme without the words. The readability of 'flowing' the text could be questioned. All in all I think it would certainly work better without it. Nice one.
1timeicutmyselfandpaintcameout
this is lovely but its so big on the shirt.

i also think the words aren't necessary. pictures say everything.

maybe if the words weren't there the image could be smaller?

i like this a lot : ]

BenHutch on May 05 '06
It's really, really, great. If you alter anything, you ought to make the water line at the bottom less profound and work that area so it ends less abruptly like the other sides of the design. Otherwise, perfect. 5$

And please don't lose the text. It completes the design very well. I may not even buy if you do srap it.
blkstim
blkstim on May 06 '06
love it! It's a buy 5!!! But please make these changes: Add gingerbread man, make the water at the bottom thinner, add some cracks on the brick wall (because they look too perfect....), and I suppose that's it!
hunger_thirst

feathered on May 06 '06
great job! i want a gingerbread man on it as well (if it fits somewhere!) :D i agree with removing the text, except for the sheep bubble "baa baa" (actually i think you put bah, but baa is what sheep really say :P) -- the random baa-ing would be cute as the only text. but yes, definately remove the text because the illustration says it all. :) and also so people can concentrate on the drawings and figure out what they are instead of just reading what things are. okay, good luck! $5

This design is great. My only gripe is to try and not have some of the text upside down. Aside from that, there's obviously a lot of thought and effort into this piece. I like the character designs, and the piggies with their material. Excellent.

I thought so. I mean a nursery rhyme styled wall set seems pretty cool to me. Because its vector, it can all be broken into different shapes too. Three men in a tub here, humpty dumpty there. Good times on and off the wall. But I could always be wrong.

Nice illustration. The text seems unecessary. But I like it.

This reminds me of the time I took my Turkish friend to a Christmas thing and they had some decor that included nursery rhyme stuff. He was SO baffled. I hadn't thought about it much, but unless you decend from certain cultures or lived in one, you wouldn't know these rhymes.

I spent the rest of the night trying to explain them and how some have political implications and some are to teach stuff and some are just silly for the sake of it.
